Thomas "Bull" Kailiawa and his wife Jamie have managed to turn their small working farm in the Kau District of the Big Island of Hawaii, into an award winning coffee estate. Blessed with similar growing conditions as it's famous cousin in Kona, Kau Coffee exhibits the same wonderful flavor characteristics. 3 of the top 10 coffees during this July's State Championship Competition held by The Hawaii Coffee Association were Kau coffees.

Earlier this year, at the prestigious Specialty Coffee Association of America convention held in Atlanta, Georgia, the Kailiawas took second place in the Pacific Asia division and seventh place in the worldwide finals of the Roster's Guild Coffee of the Year Cupping Competition. Pitted against entries from such legendary coffee origins as Ethiopia, Colombia and Panama, in the worldwide finals made these awards even more impressive.
